Start With Your Hands, Not the Photo

Short or wide nail beds. An oval or almond shape creates the illusion of length and slims the whole finger. It is the single easiest change if you have ever felt like your nails look stubby.
Long or narrow nail beds. Squoval and square shapes balance things out and keep your hands from looking overly tapered. You have the room, so use it.
How much natural length you have. Almond, coffin, and stiletto all need length to read correctly. If your nails are short right now, that is not a no. It just means we are talking about gel or acrylic extensions to get you there.
What your hands actually do all day. If you type for a living, work in healthcare, garden, lift weights, or spend your afternoons chasing a toddler, a shorter round or squoval shape will hold up far better than a long point. There is nothing boring about a practical shape. It looks just as beautiful.
The Nail Shapes We Get Asked For Most
Here is the quick tour, running from the most low maintenance to the most dramatic.
Round. Follows the curve of your natural fingertip. Nearly impossible to snag, easy to maintain, and a favorite for anyone keeping things short and clean.
Oval. Round's slightly more elegant sibling. Soft, elongating, and very forgiving as it grows out.
Squoval. A square tip with the corners gently rounded off. This is the workhorse, and probably our most requested shape of all. Sturdy, classic, and it genuinely looks good on everyone.
Square. A crisp flat tip with sharp corners. Very clean and very modern, especially at medium length. Those corners can catch on things, so it wears best a little shorter.
Almond. Tapered sides that come to a soft, rounded point. Feminine and flattering, and the shape most people mean when they say they want their nails to look longer.
Coffin, also called ballerina. Tapered like an almond, then filed flat across the tip. Bold, photogenic, and a gorgeous canvas for chrome, cat eye, and hand painted art.
Stiletto. Long and sharply pointed. Absolutely a statement, and best saved for an event or for the client who loves the drama and is happy to baby them.

Gel or acrylic extensions. This is how you get a true almond, coffin, or stiletto. We build the length first, then shape it to your hand instead of to a one size template.
